Please read Mary Devine's of St. Anthony's Parish from New York. It is a masterpiece of accuracy. I think just before the actual reception of the Eucharist, the priest should verbalize a warning about receiving in a state of mortal and extenuated venial sins...thanks Mary!!

indeed we need more teaching from the Ambo, not butterflies and fluff

This is desperately needed! I belong to the second largest Catholic parish in the US, and many parishioners do not know or believe in purgatory.

I myself have recently written a theology paper entitled "The Vital Necessity of the Sacrament of Penance and it relationship to the Most Holy Eucharist ." When I attend St. Anthony's Church I do hear what I want to be taught, that is "CATHOLIC DOCTRINE FROM THE PUPLIT. I have to teach Catholic Doctrine to friends and aquaintances outside of Church in social settings. So many people I know and am aware of go to Communion on Sunday and other days while not even meeting the most basic requirement, that is to live the faith and receive in the state of grace. How do I know/? They tell me, often persons are living together, using birth control and many other such things and receive Holy Communion. Not only does this not benefit them but it endangers them to loss of faith and loss of their salvation. Weddings and funerals are a nightmare of disrespect of the Blessed Sacrament. I want to hear priests preach CATHOLIC DOCTRINE FROM THE PULPIT. It is not my job to do so yet I have to because so many clergy don't. Father Miara at St. Anthony's DOES TEACH CATHOLIC DOCTRINE, thankfully but I attend many churches since I am a daily Communicant. I don't want to hear trivial little vignettes about trivial matters as the faithful are being led away by Satan and the poor morals and politics of this era. I hear of a suicide daily in the news. Why? Because the unfortunate souls don't think there is a hell. I am not referring to psychotic patients with mental illness. TEACH CATHOLIC DOCTRINE NOT ABSTRACTLY BUT DIRECTLY ON THE ISSUES OF the TIMES. The issues are glaring, that is the lack of chastity, disregard for life of the unborn and the elderly who are being killed in nursing homes by the choice of whether or not to pull the plug etc,, the so-called Catholic who voted in Pro Choice politicians etc. Thank you for the opportunity to share my thoughts with you. My message is simple, TEACH CATHOLIC DOCTRINE FROM THE PULPIT.

I fully support this initiative and pray that the pleading of the faithful to be taught our faith from the pulpit on Sundays will be heard. In today's day an age every really needs a masters level education in theology to combat the culture of death, this would be a good first step in getting people to fall in love with the teachings of the Church!
