The rebellion/reformation caused a split into 30,000 denominations of Protestant churches and having visited a variety of some them they all had a few things in common.
First they all knew the history of their churches. I paid about 100 dollars for Epic a study of 2000 hours of history but very rarely will the average Catholic pay for this. Second, they all felt secure in their knowledge of their faith and the bible and felt welcomed. Third they all misunderstood what the Catholic church really is. They think its just a denomination. They think it is old and out of date. They think Catholics don't know the bible.
And here is THE MOST IMPORTANT PART ****. First, Most people who consider themselves Catholic don't know we are not a denomination. Some have a shame of our history and have no idea of the rich amazing history of our church and the amazing church fathers. Second, most Catholics don't know the basics even about the sacraments or even the significance of the Mass or the Eucharist is the REAL body of Christ which NO other church has and many Catholics don't feel comfortable in coming to Mass because they know so little. Most didn't attend full years of CCD and are embarrassed they don't know. And there is sooo much more to know of our Church compared to all those churches with only part of the truth. Once CCD is over the education ends unless you choose to do bible study and almost ALWAYS the attendees are over 50 yrs old. So rarely were there young adults or young families under 50 and if there were they felt out of place because of the ages of the others attending. Third most people who call themselves Catholic have the same misunderstandings of their own church as others have about us, and a shame some of them describe themselves by one of two terms -- practicing or unpracticing. And LASTLY MOST IMPORTANT There are people walking around saying they are Catholic like Nancy Pelosi, Joe Biden and even some not famous that say they are pro abortion or believe this or that and don't fully agree with the church or don't even say they don't and deliberately use the church to mislead and add an endorsement and someone who doesn't know a good Catholic wouldn't know even to question it. And every priest chooses what to teach in his church based on the majority which doesn't include all and some are on a higher or lower level and we lose many.
Obviously there are many exit points for all different ages for us to lose members. There are so many big businesses when they lose customers they call in a marketing group and study where they are losing people and find a way to plug that up and repackage which we've been doing but only SOME of the parishes are on board. So a clear education system needs to be put in and needs to be consistent across the board.

What a wonderful idea! We are life long Catholics, but never attended Catholic schools, and just are not well catechized. What a great time to be taught our faith too, as it's hard to attend classes during the week or evenings for most families, especially with school age children or those that prefer not to drive at night. Homilies at masses are nice, but we would really appreciate something more concrete and lasting that would teach and enrich our faith.

We want formation in Sunday Mass homilies. There is a stunning lack of adult faith formation opportunities in the Catholic Church (in America).

I would love for this initiative to be passed. It will help fulfill the new evangelization and the re-evangelization of all Catholics and Christians.
