melissa obrien, christ the king, albany ny, usa

hopefully this catechism based effort takes place
PLEASE READ IDEA as a Faith Formation Teacher we need better catechesis:

and then we can have the topics follow in faith formation programs that are curriculum based universal teachings based on catechism scripture of the week simple and the topics are also based to the liturgical year so the kids in faith formation are not learning about pentecost in september when it is in april ish .
we need easier simple faith formation lesson plan based books in faith formation that are in lesson plan form topic scripture vocab catechism in child terms with fun activities music art movement ( scavenger hunts) this would help in universal teaching and sound catechisis so the readings and catechism from the church are taught at each level in faith formation . kinda like core curriculum in secular schools. let me know if you need help with this I am a certified teacher and I have prayed so much for help in this area of our YOUth.

In 2008, Georgetown University’s Center for Applied Research in the Apostolate released a survey on U.S. Catholics’ beliefs and practices, which indicated that 43 percent of adult Catholics believe that “bread and wine are symbols of Jesus, but Jesus is not really present” in the Eucharist. These polls show a striking similarity between the percentage of Catholics who support abortion (40-47 percent) and those who do not believe that Christ is present in the Holy Eucharist (43 percent).

Two years later, the Pew Forum on Religion and Public Life surveyed a wide cross section of Americans on their general knowledge of religion. Responses were received from Catholics, Protestants, Jews, Mormons and even atheists and agnostics.Out of 32 questions, Catholics (white and Hispanic combined) got an average of only 14.7 right. To add insult to injury, even the atheists outscored Catholics by six points. Only a third of Catholics could name the four Gospels. Only 55% knew that the Catholic Church believes in the real presence of Jesus in the Eucharist. (How many individual Catholics actually believe that is another matter.)
The Pew survey showed what virtually every other survey has shown: Most adult Catholics are clueless about the faith they profess.
