Actually, when I was a child back in the 40's there was a std. proccedure of going through the Commandments, Sacraments etc in such teaching cycles. The readings wern't changed. It was just that the sermon was used to go through the teachings of the Church in a systematic way. Marriage, confession, the Real Presense and the like were all done in detail every few years.
I think you would find that there are a lots less than 26 weeks available because we have all the mandatory Sunday messages about the latest collection or pledge drive from the Bishop. This year alone in my parish 3 weeks in Lent were mandatory presentation for the current capital drive for the Bishop. You will need a big miracle to get around that one.

I knew very little about what the faith actually taught until I investigated it myself. So many people of my generation (I am 31) know absolutely nothing about the catechism. We were never taught it, or were taught it in an extremely superficial way. If you do want to know more and turn to the internet for clarification, all sorts of errors abound. We need to know what the Church actually teaches!

This will be so helpful for our homilists. I agree with Natashia: It is desperately needed.
