The church needs to be clear. Too many catholics are ignorent on the teachings of the church and priest need to let the laity know the church's position of dogma and morality.

This seems like a really great Initiative!! I pray that this may unite us Catholics to have one mind in knowing the truth of Christ Jesus, and his catechism

We have at least two generations (parents and children) with poor catechesis. Bl Pope JP II said that adult catechesis (of Catholics) is the primary catechesis because we have the greatest responsibilities and capacity to live the Christian message in its fully developed form....He said that the catechesis of adults should be continually enlightened, stimulated, and renewed, so that it pervades all temporal realities.

That the Magisterium of the Catholic Church create a Catechetical Lectionary for Sunday Masses is an inspirational thought; it would have a major impact on the faithful who have been poorly catechized for two generations and we must PRAY for this to happen. At the same time, the laity can also be of help in the individual parishes--and even beyond. There are Master and Doctoral Degree programs of theological studies for Catholic men and women through Catholic Universities available. In 2005, I learned of the new Ave Maria University via EWTN and 4 days later, having occasion (via work nearby) to visit there, learned of the Institute of Pastoral Theology. I left with the resolve to enter the once-a-month weekend of courses on campus for three years--for a Master In Theological Studies at the conclusion. The Catechism of the Catholic Church (Vatican Edition) was one of the courses, along with 4 Biblical Courses, Philosophy, Theology, etc.... Now I conduct two (Evening and Morning) Catechism of the Catholic Church Studies for interested adults in our Parish. Since I have to work full time and Parishes are hard up for financial support I can't give as much time as I would like to this work. But other Parishes may be able to support this work and if more of the laity could make time in their life, the Program of Study is a wonderful personal experience--that can, subsequently, be shared! One never stops learning in matters of faith and morals!

I strongly support this initiative.

This is a great initiative! The more we can learn about our faith, the better we will pass it on to following generations. May God bless all you people who are working for the good of societies, and may He bless your work as well.

gerard fratto, St. Jerome Croatian Catholic Church, chicago, il., USA

This is so sorely needed!
